Jesmond Dene was first laid out during the 1860’s by William George Armstrong and his wife. Jesmond Dene runs alongside the River Ouseburn and is home to a variety of wildlife – kingfishers,  red squirrels and many more woodland birds.

Pets Corner

Pets Corner in Jesmond Dene is a free family petting zoo and visitors attraction which has been enjoyed by locals and visitors alike since the 1960’s. Included amongst that reside at Pets Corner are the pot bellied pig,  goats, alpacas, sheep, rabbits and colourful birds. There is also a nearby picnic area, childrens play area, café and visitors centre.
